The Science of Cool
Partying and having fun is synonymous with Edinburgh’s summer months, but a jampacked itinerary full of Science fun and festival classics brings Edinburgh in the Springtime to life. Over the years, the Science Festival has expanded its range of events and offers activities for both children and adults. If you were looking for unusual, inspiring and entertaining events for adults at the Science Festival, this year's line-up didn’t disappoint.
You could have started your journey with a humour-filled experience at Zombie Science- A Spoof Lecture on the Undead at the Scottish International Storytelling Centre. The Storytelling Centre is at the heart of the Royal Mile and is a perfect location to explore the Royal Mile’s closes and stop by one of the typical Scottish pubs to have dinner- and continue a debate about the existence of zombies, if you wish.
Or you could have grappled with the beginnings of the universe with The Big Bang Machine, an event which explored the more humorous side of science’s search for the beginning of creation.

Adult events didn't only mean evenings, as the Festival also prepared more than enough to keep you busy during the day. After a shopping session, lunch meeting or pint on George St, those that headed to St Andrews Square would have rediscovered your love for wildlife with Into the Deep: an outdoor exhibition of marine photos especially hand-picked by Steve Bloom.
For those that wanted to uncover your wild side (and your inner child!) you could have travelled to Edinburgh Zoo to have a unique sleepover! This over 18s event was sure to be a night to remember with diner, drinks and plenty of after-hours entertainment.
The morning after, while still buzzing with all you learned the night before, many may have taken a walk by Johnston Terrace where you can admire the hidden side of the Castle and travel to the Filmhouse on Lothian Road where rare screenings of Luc Besson’s cult classic: The Big Blue took place. After three hours of mind-blowing shots followed by Q&A, science surely left no secrets for you.
