2010 is the 450th anniversary of the Reformation in Scotland “the most momentous event in our history”. Harry Reid, author of the recently published and widely acclaimed “Reformation: the Dangerous Birth of the Modern World” and Richard Holloway, formerly the Bishop of Edinburgh, talk about what the Reformation meant then and means now. 500 years on, are John Calvin (b 1509) and John Knox (b 1510) – arguably the most influential figures in shaping the Scottish psyche – the good guys or the bad guys? The Conversation in the superb Upper Library is chaired by Catherine Lockerbie, former Director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival. This event is part of Edinburgh’s Lectures “Making Scotland” series.
