Bank of Scotland Imaginate Festival

MAY 10–16, 2010

The Bank of Scotland Imaginate Festival presents, year after year, the world's best theatre for children and young people. The broad range of shows captivate, entertain and inspire audience members from curious toddlers to 18 year olds.

With an emphasis on striking visual productions, each year the festival presents a programme of work, which continuously goes beyond expectations of children’s and young peoples theatre. Previous highlights have included the acclaimed Lava – a soil investigation, which unearthed a magical world of people living beneath our feet, a retelling of Peter Pan mixing live action with breathtaking shadow puppetry and Ugly Child following the turbulent tale of Lieve, a barge master's daughter, who struggles to survive in a world that rages against her.

Taking place in venues throughout Edinburgh, Imaginate also takes its unique programme on tour to rural and urban areas throughout Scotland. Each year this remarkable Festival presents around sixteen national and international productions, attracting an audience of over 15,000.

Fun, funny, fantastical and profound the festival bewitches, entertains and inspires audiences many of whom are enjoying their first taste of the arts in the dramatic backdrop of stunning Edinburgh.
