Guest Curators announced for 65th EIFF

The Edinburgh International Film Festival is in its 65th year. The Edinburgh International Film Festival announced a dramatic re-shuffle in a ‘blueprint’ announced for the festival by Artistic Advisors Mark Cousins and Lynda Myles. The theme for the 65th International Film Festival will be ‘All That Heaven Allows’, and a series of guest curators have been invited to share " our experiment and pitch in ideas for themes, days, moments and events”.

Big names across design, film, art and music such as celebrity actress and director, star of films such as Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and Fearless Isabella Rossellini; Gus Van Sant, director of Good Will Hunting and Oscar-winning Milk; British lyrical wunderkind Mike Skinner of The Streets fame; Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Thai filmmaker and winner of the prestigious Cannes Palme D’Or prize for his film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives; composer Clint Mansell, whose latest work was the electrifying score for Black Swan; and Griel Marcus , famed American author, critic and academic. Further curators will be announced at a later date.

The Edinburgh International Film Festival take place from the 15th- 26th June in venues across Edinburgh. The festival, in its 65th year, is one of the oldest and most prestigious on earth. It has retained a reputation for discovering high quality films ahead of the curve. Some notable discoveries include The Hurt Locker, ET-The Extraterrestial, The Edge of Love and Amélie, as well as current Oscar nominees Winter’s Bone and The Illusionist.
