Edinburgh's Hogmanay Launches Lucky 13

Organisers of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2013 are delighted to announce today that tickets
for the world famous New Year celebrations will be on-sale from 10am, Friday 13th April.
Following the success of last year’s Edinburgh’s Hogmanay festival, enquiries are already
flooding in from people across Scotland, the UK and overseas keen to get their hands on
one of the hottest New Year tickets in the world.

With record crowds attending last year’s opening Torchlight Procession and a run of sellout
events, organisers are encouraging visitors to plan early for this year’s festivities to avoid
disappointment. Ticket buyers can ‘Be Lucky’ on Friday 13th and purchase tickets for all
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2013 events at last year’s prices.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festival and Events Champion, City of Edinburgh
Council said: “Scotland's Capital has forged a much-envied reputation as THE best place to
see in the New Year since the famous Hogmanay celebrations started 20 years ago. With
the theme of ‘Be Lucky’ for Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2013, it's a neat touch to put tickets on
sale on Friday 13th, guaranteed at last year's prices. People can snap up tickets to all of
the Edinburgh's Hogmanay events in plenty of time to plan for their festive celebrations,
especially if they're going to be travelling to Edinburgh from elsewhere in the UK or
overseas. Last year's Edinburgh's Hogmanay saw five out of the six events sell out
completely, with tickets purchased by visitors from 66 countries."

Due to international demand, for the first time ever, tickets for the world famous Street
Party, Concert in the Gardens, The Keilidh at the Street Party, Torchlight Procession,
The Loony Dook and Candlelit Concert in St Giles’ Cathedral are all on-sale pre-summer
and with no increase on the 2012 ticket price. Headliners and programme details will be
announced from September onwards.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2011/12 once again positioned itself as Europe’s leading New
Year festival, with three days of spectacular outdoor events and a music line-up to rival any
summer festival. Scottish headliners Primal Scream were joined by the cream of the UK
music scene including Mark Ronson, Friendly Fires, The Vaccines, Bombay Bicycle Club,
Capercaillie, Wild Beasts, The Cuban Brothers, Blazing Fiddles and much more over seven
live music stages. Over 75,000 welcomed 2012 at the Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street
Party, enjoying a feast of entertainment, live music and DJ stages, giant screens and the
spectacular Midnight Fireworks, which are broadcast globally in over 150 countries to an
audience of over 1 billion people.

Do you feel lucky?... Ten New Year revellers will be getting their Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
experience for Free if their ticket purchase hits a ‘Lucky 13’ within the first 1000 ticket
transactions (i.e. 13, 113, 213, 313 etc). A great way to end 2012 and start 2013 on a
winning streak.

Pete Irvine, Director of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, said: “It’s quite usual these days for
people to buy tickets for hot music festivals well in advance. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
probably has the largest proportion of International visitors of any UK festival and the Street
Party is all about music, so we felt it was time to allow people to book tickets early, make
their plans and get lucky.”
