Edinburgh International Festival

Edinburgh International Festival

Presenting a rich programme of classical music, theatre, opera and dance during a three week period in late summer the Edinburgh International Festival is one of the most important cultural celebrations in the world.

Established in 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival was to enliven and enrich the cultural life of Europe, Britain and Scotland and to ‘provide a platform for the flowering of the human spirit’ after the devastation of World War II. These founding principles are as relevant today as they were nearly 60 years ago.
