Nightlife

New York might be the city that never sleeps but Edinburgh during the Festival is the city that never stops. Every morning promises a day where you can expect the unexpected and while there’s a place for planning, going with the flow is what the festivals are all about. Who knows who you might bump, what show you’re persuaded to see, where you’ll stop for a liquid lunch, which celeb you’ll spot and what new experiences each day holds.

The key is to start every day prepared for everything. A breakfast show might turn into a lunchtime talk and then an afternoon beer, dinner on the run between stand ups, last minute tickets for a gig, an after show party and late night cabaret before a walk up Arthur’s Seat with people you’ve never met before and a sunrise promise to do it all again tomorrow.

During the month of August Edinburgh and its visitors run on festival energy. Bars, clubs and venues stay open until 5am before others reopen at 6am. No two days are the same and every experience is a new opportunity to fall in love with the city. Offstage the action continues and to be in the thick of we recommend checking out these restaurants, bars and clubs:
