The Power Of Imagination
Edinburgh’s Imaginate Festival has established itself as an indispensable part of the international theatre scene for children and young people.
The Imaginate Festival presents the world's best theatre and dance for children and young people. The high-quality shows captivate audiences from curious toddlers to 18-year-olds – and, secretly, their parents and carers as well.
With an emphasis on artistically bold productions, the festival upturns all your expectations of children’s and young people's theatre. Highlights have included shows about a dirty potato in need of a bath, a girl who finds everyone in her city has disappeared and a teenager daring to venture into a dark and mysterious house. You can find everything from art installations for babies to European puppet theatre and site-specific drama.
Taking place in venues throughout Edinburgh, Imaginate also takes selected shows on tour. Each year, it presents around 16 national and international productions to an. audience of over 15,000. Funny, fantastical and profound, the festival bewitches audiences many of whom are enjoying their first taste of the arts.
