Performing traditional and contemporary music celebrating the ever-narrowing divide between East and West, Zor are Edinburgh-based Hungarian gypsy fiddle virtuoso Jani Lang (Fianna, Jani Lang Band), from England and also based in Edinburgh, the genre defying flute and whistle powerhouse Tom Oakes (Auvo Quartet, Ross Couper and Tom Oakes) with Budapest-based master guitarist Kornel Varga (Fianna, Fabula Rasa) completing the trio. Breaking the boundaries of traditional and pop music, Coreyah is clearly influenced by modern pop culture, but Korean tradition is never far away. Beautiful ensemble and powerful performance! The band features four Korean traditional musical instrument players, a guitarist, and a world percussionist. The group’s eclectic composition allows them to blend a wide range of genres: pansori (a traditional Korean narrative song), pop, rock, Gypsy music from the Balkan Peninsula, South American and African music, and mix the music of the past and the present.

The lyrical Lieder performances of acclaimed German tenor Werner Güra take listeners on a spiritual and emotional journey. His glowing voice’s remarkable shadings only add to his dramatic yet subtlevocal.deliveries.
With pianist Christoph Berner, Güra begins his concert with songs of love and longing by Beethoven, from the highly personal song cycle An die ferne Geliebte (‘To the distant beloved’) to expressions of bittersweet desire in Wonne der Wehmut and An die Hoffnung.
After the interval, Güra brings together a selection of Schubert Lieder to convey the life, loves and losses of a Romantic hero, from the youthful Schlummerlied and Ganymed to the moving Willkommenund Abschied.
